Information Items can be created in GXP and when connected to Categories they can be shown in iRiS Guest to display your Images and text, you can also add Information Buttons to link your guests to various external content you'd like to display. To start:


  1. Navigate to your Property in GXP, and go to Content Management > Items
  2. Enter your Internal Name, and Item Name that shows on iRiS Guest
  3. Set your Type to Information
  4. Set your Is Visible toggle to Yes


That's the basic structure of the App complete, next the Short and Long Description can be populated.

  1. Short Description should be no more than 2 sentences and shows in the Category View as well as on the Item when opened.
  2. Long Description can be as much content as necessary, and shows only on the Item when opened.

The Sky Garden Image has the Short Description shown twice, at both the Category view and also when the Item is opened. The Long Description starts from "Situated on the..." and carries on. In iRiS Guest we strip out all formatting for Bold, Italic and Underline in the editor for the text boxes, and keep all fonts and text left aligned for content and centred for buttons as a stylist choice.


Information Buttons: are shown above as the Green buttons in the images above, and you can create Information Buttons linking to Webpage, PDFs and Locations in iRiS Guest. To do this:

  1. Navigate to your Property in GXP, and go to Content Management > Items
  2. Scroll to the bottom to find the Information Buttons area and click on + Add Button
  3. Provide the Internal Name, the Title will show in iRiS Guest
  • Choosing Location provides two fields for Latitude and Longitude, enter these to Launch Google Maps from tapping the button
  • Choosing Webpage provides the URL field. When saved and showing in iRiS Guest, tapping the button will open the Webpage in a new window
  • Choosing PDF provides you a file uploader. When saved and showing in iRiS Guest, tapping the button will open the PDF in a new window

Clicking Save will finalise all of these settings for you. You should now be able to create an Information Item with an Image, some text and some Information Buttons linking to external content.
