Learn how to use Draft Version for testing and preparing your content before publishing to your Live Apps


Draft Mode allows you to create and preview content before publishing to your live Apps, and it's very important you are always doing this when adding or changing content in GXP. We understand there are some integrations you cannot test with iRiS Guest Web, but for content the vast majority of testing should be done with Draft mode. To start, you can do the following

  1. Navigate to your Property in GXP, and go to Content Management > Versions
  2. In the top right hand corner click on Draft Version
  3. This will open the Draft Version of your content in a new tab or window, depending on how your browser is setup


Notice in the address bar the URL has the added /?version=draft and you should now see the Homepage of your iRiS Guest Web page You are in draft mode



When using the Draft Mode feature, you will always see this text on the Homepage of your iRiS Guest Web App. While editing content in GXP, when you save the content changes in GXP, simply refresh your device browser to see the updated content. Below are some instructions to complete this for some of the supported browsers:


Chrome:

If you are using the Google Chrome browser, it's very easy to refresh content. In the below screenshot, simply click on the icon highlighted in the Red circle



Safari:

If you are using the Safari browser, it's very easy to refresh content. In the below screenshot, simply click on the icon highlighted in the Red circle



Firefox:

If you are using the Firefox browser, it's very easy to refresh content. In the below screenshot, simply click on the icon highlighted in the Red circle



After using the Draft Mode to preview your content and test your Order or Service Requests are working in a Demo Room, you may want to publish this to your Live App. You can do this by:

  1. Navigate to your Property in GXP, and go to Content Management > Versions
  2. In the top right left corner click on + Add New Version
  3. In the new window that pops up, tick the Make Live box
  4. In the Description Box, add some details about what content changes are going into this Version for other members of your team to be aware
  5. When ready, click on Create to let GXP complete the task for you


Once the update has finished, the window will close and you can click on Live Version in the top right hand corner to see the Live content that will be pushed out to all of your Apps.
